Reading Week Shenanegans
Reading week is always a good time for us here at UCSU to catch our breath and prepare ourselves for the coming weeks.
The National Student Survey has been up and running for ten days and there has been a very good response rate so far. The survey takes just five minutes to complete and gives all final year undergraduate students the chance to have a say on their course. These results are then published and can be used by the students’ union and course reps to make positive changes to your course. I will be holding new training events for course reps in the first two weeks of March, so keep an eye out for this.
UCSU will be setting up laptop stations in prominent areas of the university to enable students to fill in the survey and you can access NSS via portia too.
UCSU will be presenting a proposal for a new welcome/first year rep scheme to student forum next Thursday. Last year we unfortunate to lose student wardens in halls of residence due to cost cutting and lack of accomodation for new applicants.
Under our new proposal the social warden would get students interacting with each other on arrival day and check up weekly on their designated halls raising any issues with UCSU in a monthly meeting with university officials.
A new and finalised inter-campus bus timetable will be launched on February 22nd. An extra service has been added during daytime with an extra two services at night. This will hopefully be the last of the timetable issue for the semester.
To all those going on the Amsterdam trip I hope you have a wicked time and return home safely.
Brendan :)
