New Community & Volunteering Zone

The UCSU actively engages with the community to improve the society and area we live in. The SU realises that its members (you!) have skills that could benefit both the student community as well as the local one.

By working with external partners the Union provides opportunities to enhance your employability as well as giving you the ability to gain national certification for your efforts!

Employers look for more than a degree from new staff. They also look for sector experience and to see that you have engaged in activities outside of your degree that benefit others rather than yourself.

At the Union we have many opportunities and ways for you to get involved in volunteering and a number of ways for you to gain accredited recognition for your efforts.

You can become part of our Freshers’ Crew, Welcome Reps or Course Reps. If events are more your thing we have RAG fundraising events all year round to get involved in. Interact with the wider community and give something back or you can even create a volunteering opportunity of your own. However you decide to get involved, we’re here to provide you with means to do it.
