Constitution & Policies
The Students’ Union is currently working hard on developing a new constitution that meets the requirements set upon it by the Charity Commission. Whilst we are electing Officers to the current positions we should have a new structure for September 2010. If this is the case we will be in a transition phase where we are working between the two constitutions.

You may be wondering so what’s a constitution?
Well a constitution is the way in which we are organised and run. It sets out the processes that we have to follow when making decisions, dealing with finances, electing new officers and more. In a way it’s a book of rules to which we have to follow.

And then a policy is . . . .
A policy is a formal statement of principles that has been agreed and passed by the Students’ Union and its members. It can also be a plan of action saying that we have to do something. An example of a policy maybe for instance the members deciding that they don’t want the Students’ Union to sell or use a certain product, alternatively it could be that the Students’ Union has to campaign for free education.
