Going away to University especially if its your first time can be a daunting and even scary experience, but don't worry your Students' Union is here to support you all the way! We're not just here to provide you with social activites and represent your academic concerns, we're also here to look after your safety and well being as well as defend your equality and thats why we have the Welfare and Empowerment Zone.
The Welfare and Empowerment Zone runs campaigns on all sorts of issues of concern to students, from helping you to stay safe on nights out, to lobbying the University on accomodation issues like access to halls. The efforts of the Welfare Zone will be evident as soon as you arrive at University, through our Welcome Reps who are specially trained returning students giving up their time to help you settle in and help solve any problems you may have.
The Welfare and Empowerment Zone is led by a Committee of elected students responsible for undertaking and reviewing research into the welfare experience of the students of the University of Chichester and to make recommendations to the University and other Students’ Union Committees for action.
They also run welfare campaigns to raise awareness and create positive change for students, especially relating to equality issues such as race, ethnic origin, sex, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, creed, disability, age or political belief.
