At the Union we have many opportunities and ways for you to get involved in volunteering and a number of ways for you to gain accredited recognition for your efforts.
You can become part of our Freshers’ Crew, Welcome Reps or Course Reps. If events are more your thing we have RAG fundraising events all year round to get involved in. Interact with the wider community and give something back or you can even create a volunteering opportunity of your own. However you decide to get involved, we’re here to provide you with means to do it.

The vinspired award scheme has been designed to boost your CV by showing employers, colleges, universities and others clear evidence of what you’ve achieved as a volunteer. It has already won backing from high-profile business leaders, such as Martha Lane Fox, Karren Brady and Dragon’s Den star James Caan.

The Arts Award is a great way for young people to explore creative skills and at the same time a chance to gain a nationally recognised qualification. It also acts as a link between young people and creative professionals in arts and media.
Doing an Arts Award develops your creative and communication skills, and your ability to lead projects. An Arts Award is useful when looking for further education and job opportunities in the arts or other fields.
The award works on a three tier system, with individuals working towards a bronze, silver or gold with a gold accreditation gaining you the equivalent of 35 UCAS tariff points which looks great on a CV to potential employers and shows organisational skills and personal development.
