societies

Im sure you've heard from other people that societies at university are one of the things that help enhance the student lifestyle massively. well, its all true! The general idea being an opportunity to meet with like-minded people from across the board and discuss activities, or topics of interest to you.

We currently have a number of active societies at UCSU, but this will increase in the coming year. The following is a description of those currently active, most of which will parade their wares at the freshers' fair and if you want to join them, then that's the time to do it!

Societies cost from £5 a year to join and some require you to have personal insurance, which is a further £5. The Union provides support to the societies through grants, aiding with events as well as providing facilities such as minibuses, telephones, photocopiers and other admin stuff. Training is also available to society representatives to help them co-ordinate and manage their clubs. Pretty much anything goes, but in order to get backing from the University of Chichester Students Union there must be a minimum number of 10 students genuinely interested in joining. So, what's stopping you? There must be something you are interested in. Why not have a look at current societies you could join, or, if nothing takes your fancy, get together with some mates and come up with your own?

If you want any more information on existing societies or how you can start up a new society then come and see me (Alvin) in the SU offices.
